What are tell tell signs my roof is showing signs of failure?
‘This is a great question, as a lot of the time with small signs maintenance could prevent further damage or bigger works. Key factors of a failing roof other than water ingressing the property would be, missing or damaged tiles, mortar filled areas cracked or loose, damp spaws around the ceiling’s of rooms. These are common factors of a roofing issue, however the longer it’s left the worse the issue may get. It’s always super important to get these signs looked at sooner rather than later as you could prevent damage and prevent costly spending.’
Do you ever charge more money after a job is agreed?
‘The short answer is no, as a company we believe in thoroughly inspecting the works before anything is tendered or commences. The reason for this is because we believe in honesty and getting the agreed job done. However in freakish circumstances we could come across a further issue, something no one could have known about. In this case we take pictures and relay it back to the customer. However unless it’s something drastic we will just get it sorted without any further costs. However we will always make sure our client is on board and understand what is happening.’
How big is your team? And do you sub contract?
‘This is a great question as I know people aren’t a fan of sub-contracted work. And neither are we. We have departments in house and we deal with everything with Marsh Roofing staff, we have pitched and flat roofing teams, woodwork teams, uPVC teams and everything inbetween.’
How many jobs do you have on at once?

‘So as a busy in demand company we have a lot of pressure in pleasuring and fulfilling everyone’s project to the highest standard. This being said we complete 1 job at a time. I sometimes notice that people start a job, start and other job and things get rushed and missed and clients aren’t left satisfied. So I believe in completing 1 job at a time and ensuring everything is done. There could be times in big projects where we may have to pull away for scaffold alterations etc, however we plan accordingly and do not cut our self short.’

Are you always on site?

‘I am not always on site, I pop in every day and sometimes on the tools with the guys. However I spend a lot of my time in the office doing the boring work and ensuring the company is operating correctly. However because of this we have a strategic project manager that is in communication with me all day and watching over the job and ticking of the tender list. I like my clients to know that management is on site and that everything is being done perfectly.’

In a situation if a client is not happy, what do you do?
‘This is a tricky question to answer. But I will honestly. Running a busy company you are always going to come across people that could be difficult. We completely understand this and this is why we are so thorough on our initial inspection to prevent having to let our client know there’s further issues, or if something is going a touch slower than expected on a job. This could make people upset, so we do our best to always be honest, always deliver what we promise and do the best possible job. Having a client not happy would be very very rare for us. And if they are unhappy or upset it’s very important we listen, understand and try to explain what or why the subject happened. Which I’m absolutely 100% wouldn’t happen as all of our clients love our team and the way we work’.
Do you hire anyone who can roof or labour?

‘No, we would never just hire anyone. Do be granted a position on the Marsh Team you must be able to pass the initial stages. Initial stages would be completing your first months trial, we do this to ensure you are fit for the spot and to give you enough time to show us your talent, of course, polite and hard working and the ability to be part of a team and be able to uplift your piers and develop together. That’s the beauty of a great team. Everyone is happy and everyone is friendly and gets along. This means our jobs are completed in such a better way than a team who doesn’t work together and won’t pull there weight to get the job done.
We hire from first time labours to people who have roofed for 40+ years. Everyone deserves a chance to learn and everyone deserves a chance to be part of a growing team.’
What is your long term goal for Marsh Roofing?

‘So I won’t go in to depth with numbers and and stuff, however we are heading in the right direction to meet our goals, we set monthly and yearly targets that we gun to meet. I’m super happy with where the company is right now. We have systems that are manageable, teams that are a joy to have as staff, and I could not wish for much more, I’m very grateful for what we have achieved’
